Use your Desktop
We all know you shouldn't permanently store documents on your Desktop.
Right? If you don't know that, call me for some one-on-one time.
But your Desktop isn't useless. We gravitate towards it for a reason: it's right there.
So this tip, via Lucy: store that document where it should be, in a neat JD ID. But if you're using it all the time, create an 'alias' or 'shortcut' on your Desktop.
This is a pointer to the file, but it isn't the file. So when you're not using it any more, you can delete the alias, and the file remains.
Mac
Right-click the file, Make Alias. Now you'll have another icon with a little arrow in the corner. Drag it to your Desktop.
Windows
The same, but it's Create shortcut. You might have to click Show more options first.
